- You asked...We did...
At Danesfield School, we believe that it is important to work together to make our school the very best that it can be!
Below are some actions that we have recently implemented based on feedback that we have received from you. We are looking forward to receiving future feedback and working with you to make Danesfield School even better for our whole community.
Many of you felt that the entrance to school from the Service Families' Accomodation felt like a side entrance and wasn't welcoming to parents...
We are currently in the process of signing a lease agreement to enable us to create a brand new entrance to the school for our Service Families. This will be a beautiful, wooden construction that will provide shelter when waiting in the rain and will also include a brand new school sign to ensure that the entrance is as welcoming as possible.
You asked for a wider variety and increased number of after school clubs for KS1...
We have increased our offer of after school clubs for KS1 by 35% since January 2024. The variety of clubs offered to our KS1 children has also broadened to now include: Outdoor learning project; lego club; gymnastics; Science; Art and Spanish
Our Year 4 children asked if they could set up a lunch time Chess club...
We said 'Absolutely!' (and they've even created their own badges)
Lots of you felt that there were not enough opportunities for parents and carers to come through our school doors...
We sat down as a staff team to find new and different ways that we could welcome parents and carers into school. We first looked at what already existed, which included: SEND coffee mornings; parents evenings; teach ins; open classroom afternoons; sports day and various shows and plays led by the children.
In addition to what already existed, we have set up a number of new opportunities to run throughout this academic year: Service family coffee mornings; Christmas decoration afternoon; a rota of parent volunteers; a wide range of maths/reading workshops and Reception parent coffee mornings.
We look forward to increasing our offering, to welcome you into our school even more!
Our KS2 children felt that the playground equipment was tired and boring...
We asked for the children's help in designing a brand new trim trail and following this we created a new and challenging playground for our children to enjoy. The children love their playtimes using this new equipment and a big thank you to the PTA for making this possible!
We are now looking at ways in which to revive our KS1 playground area....watch this space!
